Spring has long since sprung here in Bristol County. We're well into the warmer months along the Massachusetts coast, approaching full-on summer heat and all the rough weather that comes with it. That means it's a good idea to take care of seasonal Subaru maintenance.

There's more to that than just spring cleaning, though. Sure, we recommend a good car or SUV wash, some deep vacuuming, and a thorough scrub-down of plastics and glass with a few basic detailing supplies. However, you should also take care of any maintenance that your Subaru model's owner's manual's schedule specifies. That can include:

Basic Spring Service Checklist

  • Inspect your windshield wiper blades. If your wipers are old, damaged, or worn from winter's cold, replace them.
  • Check the engine oil, coolant, and other fluid levels. If they're low, you should top them up. If the fluid has broken down or filled up with contaminants, be sure to flush and replace it.
  • Examine the engine and cabin air filters. If they're dirty, they smell, or they’re full of debris, change them.
  • Test the battery. If it can't hold a charge, or the starts are inconsistent or slow, swap it out.
  • Inspect the brakes. If the brake pads have worn out or the brake rotors are warped or damaged, replace them.
  • Check the tires. If their tread depths are uneven, or if they've worn in spots, rotate or change them. If their pressure is low, refill them with air to the proper psi.
  • Review the suspension. If you hear rattling or clunking, the steering feels wrong, the shocks and struts are leaking, the sway bar links, suspension bushings, or ball joints are loose, or the CV joints are damaged, get the right fixes. If the steering wheel is off-center during straight-line driving or your car pulls sideways, get your wheel alignment checked.

Our friendly service department's factory-trained and certified technicians can handle spring maintenance for you. What's more, we use only genuine Subaru parts and accessories to take care of the job. Because they come straight from the OEM you trust, you can count on them to last many miles.
